Almost exactly two years ago we reported on the loss of a member of the lacrosse community, Sam Houston’s Randall Perkins.
Randall was the victim of a senseless shooting on the UTSA campus in March of 2012. Two years later, the Texas lacrosse community is coming together to honor and celebrate the life of Randall Perkins.
Randall Perkins, a 2010 graduate of Smithson Valley HS, was shot two years ago today (3-24-2012) during a party at Aspen Heights student apartments near UTSA. Alleged shooter, Leandre Vonzell Hill turned himself in in relation to the shooting about two weeks later. Early reports said police were led to him by cell phone video and two eye-witness accounts, along with his mother’s input.[gravityform id="278" title="true" description="true" ajax="true"]
The trial which was set to begin last Monday has since been dismissed and charges dropped due to a lack of “material witnesses.” Mr. Hill is still up on unrelated burglary charges but is out on bail.
They are expecting a good turnout this evening, ranging from Comal ISD administrators and teachers, to parents, to teens and college students, all the way down to little kids. And, of course, Randall’s family; parents Rod & Kandy and younger brother Trevor, a junior at SVHS, will be there as well.
Anyone in the area is asked to please join the ceremony starting at 7:00 pm, Monday, March 24th in Ranger Stadium at Smithson Valley High School.
More details can be found on the memorial’s Facebook page.
