ATLANTA – After finishing as the runner-up in the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference Division II tournament, Kennesaw State has been tabbed the favorite in 2020, according to the preseason coaches poll.
The Owls (10-4), who made their sixth appearance at nationals last spring, are nine points clear of UNC-Charlotte (9-5) for the top spot. Kennesaw grabbed six of the 10 first-place votes while the 49ers snagged two.
Wake Forest (5-4), which has qualified for the SELC tournament the last two seasons, was slotted third. Florida Gulf Coast (6-6), which had a first-place vote, was 10 points behind the Demon Deacons in fourth place.
Despite its status as the defending conference champion and receiving seven second-place votes, North Florida (13-2) sits in the No. 5 spot. In the subdivisional poll, the Ospreys are still the favorite to win the South.
Florida Atlantic, which also garnered a first-place vote, rounds out the top six.[stu alias="fivestar1"][/stu]
