After an improvement off their 2011 campaign, the Bulls rebounded to end the season with a 4-6 record and wins over Miami (FL), Ole Miss, Auburn, and North Florida. While USF lost their leading scorers, there are still plenty of Bulls to watch out for this season. We sat down with Sophomore Joey Galuppi to find out what’s in store for South Florida this season.

MCLA Fan: How is the gear department looking for South Florida this year?

JG: This year gear wise we decided to go with ZimaGear for our pinnies, shooters, and shorts. They are also working on mock-ups for helmet wraps for us for the spring. The team has decided to try and implement the horns on our team’s Pro7s since we’re the Bulls. We decided to keep the same gloves and unis that we had from last year.

Which Bulls should we be looking out for this season?

Zak Heinritz (Senior) – Leading the attack as another co-captain, who tore his ACL at Auburn last year, before the midway point in the season.

Chris Heinritz (Senior) – Leading the defense as another co-captain, who brings leadership and knowledge to the younger guys.

Nathan Granger (Freshman) – Has a strong chemistry with Grant Wallenfelsz (went to the same high school: Leon) Contributes as a middie both ways and has a strong left hand. Also plays man up.

Grant Wallenfelsz (Freshman) – Has a strong chemistry with Nathan Granger (went to the same high school: Leon) Contributes as a middie both ways and has an absolute cannon of a shot up top on man up.

Ryan Dwyer (Freshman) – Despite being a freshman Ryan brings a wealthy amount of talent and knowledge to the returning defense this year. He provides depth and stability that we didn’t have as much last year.

Anthony Lefanto (Junior) – Received SELC 2nd Team All-Conference Goalie last year as a sophomore. Now that the defense is starting to build up around him, look for another strong season out of our experienced goalie.
