Sean Buzzard, the head men’s lacrosse coach at the University of Pittsburgh, stops by the MCLA Fan office for a quick rundown on what to expect from the Panthers during the 2013 season. Focused, Determined, Family
How many players tried out for the team this year?
Roster size by position
– Attack: 10
– Midfielders: 18

Where do the majority of your players come from?
Pennsylvania–mainly Central and Eastern part
Team Captains
Tyler Novotny – A – Senior Pre-season POY per lacrosse magazine. Senior transfer has lead team in scoring last 2 seasons. CCLA offensive POY 2012.Eric Bulgarelli – D – Junior Standout defensemen from York, PA–2nd team CCLA in 2012. Also serves as team president.Max Carlson – D – Junior CCLA 1st team defensemen 2012 from Catonsville, MD. 100% effort always!
Can you tell us a little about your team’s goals for the upcoming season?
Our goals are to get better every day, return to Greeenville as the CCLA champs instead of an at-large selection, and then make a run at the MCLA Championship.
What’s one thing you’re most excited about?
Early season trip to Atlanta where we will face Clemson, Auburn, and Georgia Tech in about 30-hour span. We will find out real fast how we stand as far as conditioning and depth.
Who will be the toughest teams to play in your conference this year? Why?
Ohio – We always have close, tough games with the Bobcats. Lots of Western PA players and sometimes family connections. They always seem to be up to play us.MSU – The hurdle we must to overcome to be where we want to be.Davenport – solid program with great coaching, they will be a test based on their past success.
Are there any other MCLA programs that you would compare yours to?
What’s your prediction for the 2013 MCLA Final Four?
BYU, Colorado State, Cal Poly, & Pittsburgh
