I love Thursdays, it means only one more day until the weekend. In the MCLA, we are lucky enough to be able to schedule our own games, allowing us to play as much as our bodies will let us. This weekend, several teams are taking advantage of every second they can on the field – two top five teams are playing three games in three days. Several MCLA squads are still receiving their gear for the 2012 season, it’s like Christmas, part deux. Lastly, if your team isn’t taking the time to put together press releases to send out on important team news, find yourself a writer or even just a teammate who loves to write. People love being able to follow their alma mater.
By now, most everyone has seen the MCLA’s newest campaign, ‘We’re Everywhere: Away Uniforms On’. If not, take a couple seconds and check it out below.
The MCLA kicks off its third weekend of games on Friday with some great match-ups throughout the MCLA. Boston College and Clemson face-off Friday in what should be a great match-up between two top 15 teams. BC follows up this match-up by playing #20 Central Florida on Saturday and #12 Florida State on Sunday. What a way to open your season!
Future CCLA D1 team Davenport plays current CCLA D1 team Michigan State. State was ranked preseason as #6 so it should be a nice test for the D2 National Champions as they kick off their season.
#21 ranked Standford plays #11 ranked UCSB, this should make for an exciting game down in Santa Barbara.
The reigning D1 National Champs kick off their 2012 campaign with three games in three days. Brigham Young goes hard, yikes. UNLV will visit Provo on Thursday before the Cougs hit the road to Boise, ID for games against Boise State on Friday evening and Simon Fraser on Saturday. Check out the full press release here.
In the gear world, we received some pictures of the helmet and gloves for Fort Lewis (RMLC D2) in 2012.
How about a close-up of those gloves?
Washington State (PNCLL D1) also got some sweet gloves for 2012. They’ll be keeping their hands warm on the Palouse this spring with the Warrior Wraths.
And we can’t forget about Oregon State’s helmets for 2012. In case you missed it, they pretty much blew everyone’s minds at LAS, and around the U.S. for that matter.
As the season rolls on, you will definitely want to keep up with all the action. PNCLL D1 squad Simon Fraser is already pumping out press releases, updates, and photos from their games so far. Check out their Facebook for more action.
Last, but most definitely not least. Scott Krueger of the Montana Grizzlies Lacrosse team put together this time lapse of a practice with the Griz. I don’t know why, but I find all time lapse videos enchanting.
Travel safe, play tough, and have a great weekend!
