The Clansmen are dropping their fall schedule on us!  Love it when a team gets so ahead of the game!  Check out the Press Release below.  Love that they’re taking on an NCAA DII squad in NDNU, and I bet that Red – White alumni game is going to be pretty killer.  BTBs all over the place!  Here’s to you, our Canadian MCLA brothers!

BURNABY, BC (October 7, 2011) – Simon Fraser University men’s lacrosse head coach Brent Hoskins (8th season) has announced the Clan’s 2011 fall scrimmage schedule. Currently in their fourth full week of practice, SFU is once again anticipated to have one of the youngest teams in the nation in 2011 with only six juniors and no seniors penciled in on the roster. The Clan will look to gain a talented freshmen and sophomore class some valuable experience over the next couple of weeks, the first of many steps to get back to the MCLA National Championship Tournament this spring.

Highlighting the fall schedule is a trip this weekend to Northern California for two games in two days. On Saturday, October 8, the Clan will travel to Belmont to take on NCAA Division II opponent Notre Dame de Namur at 11:00am. A quick turn-around will then see Fraser start their drive back up north for a morning game versus Chico State (MCLA Div. I) at 11:00am on Sunday, October 9.

The following weekend, Simon Fraser will cross the border to Bellingham, Washington on Sunday, October 16 for an 11:00am game versus regional PNCLL Div. II opponent Western Washington at Whatcom Community College.

Fraser will wrap-up their fall schedule the following weekend when they host their annual “Red vs. White” Alumni Game at Terry Fox Field (SFU) on Saturday, October 22. The game is scheduled for 7:00pm and will feature the 2012 Clan versus SFU alumni from the past sixteen seasons.

Simon Fraser posted a 9-9 record in 2011, going 5-0 in divisional play before falling to the University of Oregon in the PNCLL Conference Championship. Ranked No. 16 in the final CollegeLAX Coaches Poll, the Clan would fail to earn an at-large bid to the MCLA National Championships, missing the tournament for only the fifth time in program history after a trip to the MCLA Semi-finals in 2010 and consecutive MCLA Quarterfinal appearances in 2008 and 2009.

The Clan will continue small group / position specific practices and team strength and conditioning workouts through the month of November before resuming their pre-season practice schedule in January 2012.

  1. Its an hour before game time.  I am predicting SFU in a close one.  In another MCLA vs D2 game, Dominican of California over CAL last night by about 14 to 4 or 5.  Dominican is much improved compared to 3 years ago, when CAL went ahead 15-0 in the first half.
