SELC D1 – Games Of Interest

Miami South Carolina Lacrosse MCLA
The SELC D1 is really heating up!!!

Fri. March 2nd: Seattle, WA: Florida Vs. Washington – The Florida Gators make a long road-trip to the Northwest and play Washington, Simon Fraser and then Oregon. Let’s see how the Gators carry the SELC banner in the Northwest. The Gators are 1-0 against the Huskies, beating them last year in Gainesville 15-7.  The game being played in WA is totally different though!

Fri. March 2nd: Louisville, KY: West Virginia Vs. Kentucky – This is a division game and Kentucky has won the last 2 meetings by a total of 3 goals. Last year’s game was a 12-11 win by Kentucky in Morgantown.   Expect another tight one!

Sat. March 3rd: Point Vedra, FL: Virginia Tech Vs. Florida State – In the last 7 meetings the Hokies are 2-5 against Florida State. However, VTech has lost the last 2 games by a total of 3 goals. FSU with two losses last weekend needs to show something here. Maybe they don’t need to win, and a close loss would be “ok” to begin to right the ship. This isn’t a division game so it is not big deal! …Right!  Heavyweights going at it, should be fun!

Sat. March 3rd: Athens, GA: Alabama Vs. Georgia – Huge division game. Georgia (2-0) is the heavy weight in this division, but the Tide(1-0) have really have been really building a nice program over the past two years. Georgia has won the last two meetings. A Georgia victory clinches a playoff slot. This is a real test for Alabama in every respect.

Sun. March 4th: Seattle, WA: Florida Vs. Simon Fraser – As best I can tell this is the first meeting between these two teams. Simon Fraser is a perennial MCLA power but has lost some games this year to surprising foes, like Boise State.  They are definitely vulnerable.

Sat. March 3rd: Athens, GA: Tennessee Vs. Georgia – SEC rivalry game. Georgia is 4-1 in the last 5 years over the Volunteers, but the Volunteers beat the Dawgs last year.

Wed. March 7th: Eugene, OR: Florida Vs. Oregon – More new territory for the Gators as they play the Oregon “Fighting Nikes”.

The “SELC D1 GAMES of INTEREST” is on spring break in Helsingborg, Sweden next week and will return in two weeks!
