Quick Sticks: Utah State Announces 2013 Freshman Class

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Utah State University’s Incoming Freshman Class for 2013

Logan, Utah – January 27, 2013 – Utah State University is pleased to announce the new incoming talent for the 2013 lacrosse season. This year’s freshman class consists of players from seven states: Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Illinois, Maryland, Virginia, and New York. The new Aggie faces are prepared for an exciting season, filled with games against many tough teams and the defending national champions. The talent brought to Logan this season is immense, this is Utah State Lacrosse:

Jared Day, Sky View HS, Smithfield, UT – Face-off Specialist/Midfield, 6’ 3” 210 lbs.

Jared played lacrosse all through high school, and gained titles such as most improved player. Jared’s team went to playoffs all four years, with playing in a state championship his senior year. Jared will be playing midfield and facing off for the Aggies.

Chris Meyer, Galena HS, Reno, NV – Midfield, 6’2” 175 lbs.

Chris was on his high school lacrosse team for four years. Chris was all league midfield, and is a great asset to the team. Chris will be playing midfield for Utah State.

Mark Rosa, Naperville Central HS, Naperville, IL – Defense, 6’ 3” 235 lbs.

Mark is from Illinois, and played lacrosse for four years in high school. Mark was the Lacrosse America Indoor Champion, and is excited to be playing for the Aggies. Mark will be playing Defense for the 2013 season.

Conner Child, Riverton HS, Riverton, UT – Midfield, 5′ 11”, 175 lbs.

Conner Child is new to the Utah State lacrosse team, playing midfield. Conner played for three years in high school. Conner is excited for a great season with the Aggies.

Bradley Beckstead, Preston HS, Preston, ID – Midfield, 6′ 3”, 185 lbs.

Brad did not play any lacrosse in high school. He is completely new to the sport, and is very excited for his first season playing with Utah State. Brad is very athletic and is excited for his new found talents, and will be playing midfield for the Aggies.

Blade Garlow, Medina HS, Medina, NY – Attack, 6′ 1”, 250 lbs.

Blade is from New York, ready to play lacrosse for the Aggies. Blade played lacrosse for all four years in high school, where he was a two time all league player. He loves the sport, and is ready to bring his talents to the west coast. Blade will be playing attack for Utah State.

Mike Christensen, North Stafford HS, North Stafford, VA – Attack, 6′ 2”, 180 lbs.

Mike played lacrosse for all four years in high school. Mike was first team all district, as well as going to the state playoffs with his high school team. Mike will be playing attack for the Aggies and is ready for a great season.

Cody Lutz, Hillcrest HS, Idaho Falls, ID – Midfield, 6’2”, 170 lbs.

Cody will be playing midfield for Utah State. He loves lacrosse, playing all four years in high school. Cody went to the playoffs with his high school team.

Mitch Williams, Riverton HS, Riverton, UT – Attack, 5′ 7”, 140 lbs.

Mitch played lacrosse for all four years in high school. He also played for Utah Starz, and has traveled all over the west coast for lacrosse. Mitch will be playing attack for the Aggies.

Jamie Hanson, Northwest HS, Germantown, MD – Midfield/Attack, 5′ 11”, 150 lbs.

Jamie is new to Utah State this year, and is excited to play lacrosse. Jamie played for all four years in high school, bringing his team to the playoffs. Jamie will be playing midfield and attack for the Aggies this season.

Jeff Krieps, Brighton HS, Cottonwood Heights, UT – Midfield, 6′ 2”, 196 lbs.

Jeff played lacrosse for a year in high school, and is ready to play at the collegiate level. Utah State is excited for Jeff to play Midfield.

Blake Bowen, Alta HS, Draper, UT – Goalie, 5′ 8”, 165 lbs.

Blake played all four years in high school. He was a four year starter, as well as playing for team Utah for three years. Blake won the division A state championship in 2007. The Aggies are looking forward to a great season with Blake playing goalie.
