Grand Rapids, MI– Three members of the Aquinas College Men’s Lacrosse team have been named captains for the 2012-13 season. Senior Connor Sutton (Commerce Township), Junior Mark Evans (Rochester Hills) and Sophomore Hunter Perry (Battle Creek) will take on the role of captain for the Saints.
Connor Sutton is now a two-time captain and a four-year starter for the Saints. Sutton, a close defenseman, is regularly given the task of defending the opposing team’s biggest threat. Gritty and physical, Sutton was second on the team last season with 15 caused turnovers. He also added 47 groundballs. For his career, Sutton has 82 groundballs and 1 goal.
During his first two seasons as a Saint, Mark Evans has made an impact as a defensive midfielder and face-off man. A tough and determined player, Evans helps anchor the Saints’ man-down defense and is one of the team’s top face-off men. A hard dodger with a hard shot, Evans scored 5 goals last season and added an assist. For his career, Evans has 11 goals and 4 assists, and has won 55% of his faceoffs.
In just his second season as a Saint, Hunter Perry has already established himself as a respected leader who leads by example. A driven and athletic midfielder, Perry has become one of the team’s top defensive midfielders after transitioning from defenseman. Perry will also take face-offs for the Saints and will look to add his powerful shot to the offensive end of the field.
