Spartans Ranked 13th in First MCLA Preseason Poll

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) released its first preseason poll on Tuesday which placed Missouri Baptist 13th in the nation.

The Spartans finished last season at number 12, but will look to improve their standing early. The team will get an early home game against Division I, 23rd ranked, University of Missouri. After the home opener against the Tigers, MBU will face seven teams that are ranked in the top 25 in this poll.

Among the biggest match-ups of the season will be home games against the top two teams in Division II. The second-ranked University of St. Thomas comes to town on March 17. The Spartans will then need to turn-around and play the top team Division II, Davenport University. The defending national champion will come to town just two days later for a Monday afternoon showdown.

MBU will play Hope College, Washington University (St. Louis), Missouri State, Northern Colorado and Indiana Tech later in the season, all ranked opponents. “We have built a difficult schedule, but I’m confident that this team is up to it,” said Missouri Baptist Head Coach, Andy Joly. “We had a tough schedule last year and suffered some losses, but we grew as a team because we have a strong core of seniors ready to lead the team.”
