The BYU Men’s Lacrosse Team is heading out on its annual February road trip to Southern California to play three games over President’s Day weekend.
The Cougars played three games in three days last week, coming out with a 3-0 record. They took advantage of a few days’ rest to treat injuries and perfect strategies, said Head Coach Matt Schneck.
BYU will face San Diego State University on Thursday Feb. 16 at 7:00 p.m. in San Diego.
“SDSU is looking forward to hosting BYU this Thursday on the Aztec Campus,” SDSU Head Coach Matt Holman said. “This will be a solid test for a young Aztec Team and we welcome the challenge … The Aztecs have a balanced team and should give BYU a strong first game to their Southern California Trip.”
The Cougars will then travel north to Orange, Calif., to play Chapman University. The game will be at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday Feb. 18 and will be broadcast live at youtube.com/thelacrossenetwork as the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference Game of the Week.
“Chapman Lacrosse is looking forward to the renewed rivalry against a great opponent in BYU,” said Chapman Head Coach Dallas Hartley. “The games between our two teams are always very competitive and we expect a hard-fought contest between two very talented teams that are looking to establish themselves early in the 2012 season.”
BYU’s final game in California will be against the Cal Poly Mustangs in San Luis Obispo at 2:00 p.m. on Monday Feb. 20.
“We’ve played BYU a handful of times in the past and all of the games have been hard fought and competitive,” said Cal Poly Head Coach Marc Lea. “We are extremely excited to get the opportunity to play the defending national champions … We’re looking forward to testing ourselves and getting a good gauge on where we stand this season by matching up against the Cougars, as well as learning about what we need to improve upon.”
