MCLA The Lax Mag Merges WIth Inside Lacrosse
We received the announcement today that MCLA The Lax Mag has merged with Inside Lacrosse. The Lax Mag will no longer be a stand alone publication and its content will now be included within Inside Lacrosse’s monthly issues. Agent Ogden and Karl Lynch, the founders of the Lax Mag, will now be responsible for creating content on the MCLA for both print and online use by IL under the Lax Mag umbrella.
From the perspective of the league, this is a great move because it means MCLA content will be a regular part of Inside Lacrosse in the magazine and online. It means that as time goes on, and in the eyes of the average fan, MCLA content will no longer just be MCLA content, it will be lacrosse content. And it’s great to see Inside Lacrosse step up and bring the MCLA into their fold. For the MCLA, this is a notable step in being viewed as legitimate by the doubters. It’s an affirmation of sorts, and the players and coaches from the MCLA and USILA were the ones who truly made it happen. The MCLA got big enough and simply couldn’t be ignored. So well done!
Some may worry that the MCLA will suffer now because there isn’t a single separate print source devoted to the League, but DIII lacrosse has done fine without a dedicated print news source, so I think those fears are probably unfounded. The fact is, Agent and Karl will now be able to focus solely on content, and they won’t have to worry about running an entire magazine. I’m hoping this translates into great content and lots of it!
IL dipped a toe in the MCLA last year with their MCLA tourney gear posts, but it looks like they’re making a much more serious effort this year. And that means good things for the MCLA. Now on a personal note, I am curious to know if I’ll still be welcome to write for the Lax Mag, like I have done for the past year, but I’m sure I’ll hear more on that soon!
More MCLA Coverage in IL and IL.com? I’m more than ok with that!
