Liberty lacrosse is proud to announce Mike Zumpano, Nathan Lowmaster, Derek Haywood and Kurt Tobias as team captains for the 2013 regular season. Liberty has high expectations this year and hopes to win their first ever SELC Championship, earning a spot at Nationals, located in Greenville, SC.

Mike Zumpano, the only senior of the group, has been a captain and team president since the programs rebirth in 2010.  He has played a central role in the program’s success and growth over the last 2 years, and looks forward to representing him team and school one last time.  Nathan, Kurt and Derek are all entering their junior years, after being awarded all conference recognition from the 2012 season, where Liberty came up short 13-12 to the current SELC champions Elon, in a semifinals matchup.

Liberty also officially unveiled their new helmet design which includes the American flag from which the school colors are derived, and team verse.  1 Timothy 4:8 – “For physical training is of some value, but Godliness has value in all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come”.

With schedules officially being released this week on the MCLA website, lacrosse is right around corner and Liberty is anticipating a successful season. Lacrosse Magazine released its pre-season poll which ranks Liberty 20th in the nation, which is a great accomplishment for a program entering only its 3rd year.

Not a bad look at all! Many NCAA locker rooms can’t hold a candle to this set up. Very nice, indeed! Good luck to Liberty in 2013.
