SALT LAKE CITY – The first annual Laxapalooza day-of-lacrosse, sponsored by Adrenaline Lacrosse, will take place this Saturday, April 10, at Juan Diego High School in Draper, Utah.

The event will get underway with the No. 4 Westminster Griffins (8-3, 1-0) taking on the Utah State Aggies (4-3, 0-2) at 1pm. The Aggies have never beaten the Griffins and are looking to end a current three game losing streak. The Griffins come into the game on high note with a three game winning streak and look to continue it with a win over an in-state rival.

The following game will feature two of Utah’s elite high school teams this season. Brighton High School (3-0) will take on Juan Diego Catholic High School (4-2) in what could be a possible matchup in the Utah State Championship this May.  Brighton comes into the game undefeated while Juan Diego is looking to improve to 5-2. Brighton is averaging 11.33 goals per game while Juan Diego only averages 9.83 goals per game. However, both teams boast quick and dominate defenses. Juan Diego is only allowing 6.5 goals per game while Brighton is giving up a similar 6.67 goals per game.

Laxapalooza will end with No. 16 Utah and No. 5 BYU facing off at 7pm. The classic in-state rivalry is anticipated each year in the Utah lacrosse community and this year is more exciting than ever. Utah (7-2, 1-1) will look to knock off BYU for the first time in program history. The Utes have been on a roll this season with second year head coach Craig Morris at the helm. The team is led by BYU transfer Mark Manning and looks to claim second place in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference with a win. BYU (8-2, 1-0) will be expecting to maintain the dominance it has had over Utah even with a new head coach. While Utah is starting to find its groove with Coach Morris, BYU is continuing to show why they are a top team with new head coach Matt Schneck. BYU is led by field by MCLA pre-season All-American Elliot Grow who is averaging a Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference best of 4.9 points pregame. However, even with their dominance in the past BYU will need to bring their best game to keep the upset hungry Utes away from their first victory over the Cougars.

Tickets for Laxapalooza are $10 and can be purchased at Face Off Lax or Tribal West Lacrosse. Tickets will also be available at the gates on the day of the game. Concessions will be available at the stadium throughout the day.
