The United States Coast Guard Academy always keeps it classy. Today, they released their brand new 2013 home uniforms.

Let’s start off with the inspiration behind the look.

Coast Guard Academy Lacrosse - MH-60T

The MH-60T is the aircraft behind the racing stripe featured on the shorts, as well as the uniforms. So sharp. Enjoy!

The new jerseys feature royal blue and orange accents, including two-tone trim around the neck, orange underarm accents on each sleeve and royal stitching across the chest and shoulders.

Inside the collar, you can see the neckline features the official motto of the Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers, “So Others May Live”. We were told the Team Captains decided that this motto epitomized the Coast Guard’s mission of selfless service.

On the right sleeve, you can see a very special tribute graphic in honor of Lieutenant John M. Senyard. This is to honor his contributions to the Coast Guard Lacrosse program. He was instrumental in starting the Academy team and is considered the “founder of Coast Guard Academy Lacrosse”.

The back of each jersey features a sublimated graphic underneath the number, topped off with an American Flag above the number. The one pictured above is the Coast Guard shield. “The crossed anchors of the shield have been a symbol of the Coast Guard for many years.  The 1790 date located on the bottom depicts the year the Revenue Cutter Service, the Coast Guard’s predecessor, was established.  Founded by Alexander Hamilton as the Revenue Cutter Service on 4 August 1790, the Coast Guard lays claim to being the United States’ oldest continuous seagoing service.”

I am absolutely in love with how great this top looks. It stays true to the tradition of the US Coast Guard Academy but offers up some great customization with the sublimation.

The shorts feature stripes inspired by the racing stripe design on the Coast Guard cutters and aircraft. These aren’t just your typical stripes though, there is some very specific details to its execution. The design requires a wide orange bar to the right of a narrow blue bar with both bars canted at 64 degrees. No joke.

The shorts also feature each player’s number, as well as one of the Coast Guard Academy’s new branding logos – a bear paw with the aforementioned racing stripe design.

What you can’t see though is just as cool as what you can see. The shorts also have the Coast Guard Academy’s core values (Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty) printed on the inner waistband of the shorts. See below for a little more information on their core values.

“The core values are more than just Coast Guard rules of behavior.  They are deeply rooted in the heritage that has made our organization great.  Because Cadets represent the Coast Guard to the public, they must embrace these values on the field, in their professional undertakings as well as in their personal lives.”

Great execution on these uniforms, we can’t wait to see them in action. Good luck this season gentlemen!

United States Coast Guard Academy Men’s Lacrosse Team News Release

Coast Guard Academy Lacrosse – New White Uniforms for 2013

New London, CT –  Lacrossewear of Coconut Creek, FL designed these incredible dye sublimated home uniforms for the United States Coast Guard Academy Lacrosse program.  The Coast Guard Academy Lacrosse Team was founded in 1984 and currently competes as a member of the Pioneer Collegiate Lacrosse League of the MCLA.  The Bears are coached by Gary Weller who, along with departed Coach Brian Krautler, led them to an excellent 2012 season finishing with an 11-5 record.   The Coast Guard Academy Lacrosse Team returns a boatload of talent for the 2013 season, but at the Coast Guard Academy – everything starts with leadership and they have three captains who are poised to step into that role. Talented Senior Cadets Steven Danseglio, Austin English, and Tim Wyderko will serve as the team captains next season. Danseglio led the PCLL in goals in 2012 as a faceoff midfielder, English is a First Team All-Conference Attackman who led the PCLL in points and assists, and Wyderko is the team’s leader on the defensive end.

Features of the new jersey include:

  • Royal blue and orange accents including contrasting two-tone trim around the neck, orange underarm panels on each sleeve and contrasting royal “stitching” across the chest and shoulders.
  • “So Others May Live” is inscribed on the inside of the collar and is the official motto of Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers.  The Team Captains decided that this motto epitomized the Coast Guard’s mission of selfless service.

Features of the new shorts include:
