Team Captains
This year we have four captains: Paul Morgan, Austin Ray, Kody Kareta, and Gabe Alamillo. Paul, Kody, and Austin are all senior D-poles and will give us a very solid defense to rely on. Gabe Alamillo is a Junior attackman and will be a big time finisher for us this year.
Can you tell us a little about your team’s goals for the upcoming season?
We are a new and young team with a lot of different starters from last year. As the Head Coach has also changed, there has been a lot of alterations with the offense and team philosophies. One thing that has stayed consistent from last year is our team goals to win the DII SLC and to make it to Nationals. I feel that we have one of the hardest schedules in the D2 MCLA and this year we want to prove that Fullerton is still a national contending team.
What’s one thing you’re most excited about?
I am very excited for our team as a whole because of how different the team looks from last year. We have lost a lot of offensive talent after last year and it will be very interesting to see how effective the new look offense will have against the good teams in the MCLA. I am also very excited for our defensive group that has a concentration of seniors and leaders for our team and should be a group that can keep us in every game.

Probably the biggest game we have this season is our second to last regular season game against Concordia University on Saturday, April 13th, which will most likely have a major impact on which team wins the D2 SLC south division.

Who will be the toughest teams to play in your conference this year? Why?
Concordia University is definitely the first team that comes to mind. We went 1-1 with them last year as they beat us in the regular season, but we were able to pull an overtime upset in the SLC playoffs against them. They are bringing back a lot of offensive fire power and is probably the favorite to win the D2 SLC this year. UC San Diego also looks like it has some good talent this year and could give us problems. Also Cal State San Marcos has a new Head Coach and is quickly gaining its footing within the D2 MCLA and may be a very tough team to beat by the time we meet them in mid March.
What’s your prediction for the 2013 MCLA Final Four?
DI: UCSB, Chapman, Michigan State, and BYU.DII: St. Thomas, Westminster, Dayton, and St. Johns.
