February 28, 2011

Its been 783 days, 18,792 hours, 31 games, 10 All-Conference players, 2 All-Americans and a MCLA National tournament appearance since SeanMichael Pagano took over the helm as Briarcliffe College’s head coach. His first year the Seahawks went undefeated in conference play and appeared in their first PCLL Championship game. In a fourth quarter thriller his team came up short and lost to Stonehill College by a goal scored with 18 seconds left in competition. In 2010 the Seahawks went undefeated again and beat the same Stonehill College by a score of 14 to 6 in the PCLL Championship game. The squad composed of 19 players and 1 coach boarded a plane for Denver, not knowing what to expect. We arrived at Dicks Sporting Goods Complex on Tuesday, May 11th and were prepared for battle. In another fourth quarter nail biter we lost by a goal to eventual Championship finalist, Utah Valley State. This was our first MCLA national tournament appearance. Returning most of our players from 2010 and adding 10 new recruits, our improved squad starts the 2011 season on Wednesday against Brookdale Community College. The Blue Jerseys are a member of the NJCAA. With very high expectations from upperclassmen including myself, the Bulldogs go into the season well prepared for every team on the schedule. Let me take this time to introduce myself……My name is Tim Dillon and I have been a part of the Briarcliffe Lacrosse program for two years. I will be bringing you through our journey during the 2011 Briarcliffe Bulldogs season.  Our team is located in the epicenter of the lacrosse world, Long Island, New York. Already, it has been an extremely welcoming year for the new members of our BC family. Last month we had our first ever awards and national letter of intent dinner. It was an event including a live D.J., great food, raffles, chinese auctions, family, and of course our 2012 recruits. Last Thursday we also had our first ever Briarcliffe Lacrosse Comedy fundraiser. We raised a ton of money and we all had a great time while doing so. We look forward to an incredible season throughout the league. Just want to take this time to thank the MCLA, MCLA Fan and their members for making our lacrosse experience one to remember.

Holbrook, NY

March 2, 2011

Preseason was completed and we took the field today with one goal……start the season the right way, and we did! From the beginning of fall our team motto……“WORK”, and today our work paid off. We played Brookdale Community College and came out victorious by a score of 16 to 8. On the Briarcliffe lax field you can often hear “daddy is home” the famous saying of our starting attackmen Matt Karp. Well today daddy was really home! Karp had a huge game for us scoring 6 goals and adding an assist. DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE!!!  One transfer, Dom Rullo and two freshman, Sean Stanton and Chris Friedman, played close “D” and did a fantastic job. The Bulldogs also had complete control at the faceoff X. Another stand out player was our freshman LSM Eric Vitale, who registered 2 goals and 5 GB’s. It was a great first showing by the Briarcliffe Lacrosse Program. Next contest is scheduled for May 12th against the Bridgewater Bears at the Holbrook PAL Complex, Holbrook, NY. Until next time…………..“I FEEL GOOD!”
