2013 Alabama Lacrosse Captains

Tuscaloosa, Alabama — The Alabama Men’s Lacrosse team has announced four captains for the 2013 season. Jake Springer, Chris Palasek, Brandon Pugh and Craig Landru will lead the Crimson Tide this season. The four of them hope to push the team further this year after last April’s SELC-tournament loss to FSU.

The postseason berth was Alabama’s first since 1996.

Jake Springer is a senior goalie from Baltimore, MD. Springer recorded an MCLA-high 224 saves in 2012, averaging 14 a game.

“Last year, our focus was simply making it to Atlanta,” said Springer. “This year, the bar is set higher for all of us. Our new guys and transfers are really buying in, so I think we’re ready for the challenge.”

Chris Palasek is a junior attackman from Rocky Point, NY. Chris led the Alabama offense last season with a school record 57 points, including 35 goals (also a school record) and 22 assists. Last season, Chris earned an Honorable Mention for the SELC All-Conference team.

“Being elected a captain is a huge honor for me and I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity,” said Palasek. “I’m really looking forward to leading this team and getting us to that next level.”

Brandon Pugh is a junior defenseman from Jarrettsville, MD. Pugh played both close defense and LSM in the 2012 season, his first as a starter.

“We have a great balance of returners and newcomers that can step up and really contribute for us,” said Pugh. “As great as it was making the playoffs last season, we’re eager to build on that success and take the next step.”

Craig Landru is a junior midfielder from Rochester Hills, MI. Landru won 142 of his 278 faceoffs in 2012 and recorded a team-high 55 groundballs.

“We have a lot of talented young players and should be poised to make a run shot at SELC playoffs this year,” said Landru. “Last year a tough schedule wore us down, but this year we’re ready to make some huge strides.”

Alabama’s season begins on February 16th against LSU in the All-State Sugar Bowl Classic. For more information on the Crimson Tide, please visit TideLax.com, like us on Facebook at Alabama Lacrosse Club, or follow us on Twiiter at @TideLax.
