The 2012 season was one of significant growth for the Alabama Men’s Lacrosse team. The Crimson Tide finished 7-9 overall, yet there were many positives worth celebrating. New Head Coach Randy Nace and Defensive Coordinator Michael Walker helped guide the team to key wins over rivals LSU, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Auburn.
Although Alabama suffered 9 losses on the season, a major sign of growth has been who the losses were to. 7 of the Tide’s 9 defeats this season were to nationally ranked opponents (#10 Pittsburgh, #11 Virginia Tech, #19 Georgia, #20 Clemson, #22 Northeastern and #23 Florida State x2). Considering the team is only four seasons removed from a 1-10 record as a Division 2 team, it is evident progress have been made. Now, the Tide are coming off their first SELC playoff berth since 1996 and their very first as a Division 1 team.
Alabama will lose only 5 seniors to graduation, so the team hopes to build on the progress and improvement made during the 2012 season.
